M. Jack Sanders - CEO - Sonoco
Mr. Sanders became Sonoco’s eighth CEO on April 1, 2013. He serves on the Board of Directors, executive committee and leads the Company’s management committee.
During his 25-year career with Sonoco, Mr. Sanders has played an integral role in growing the company by leading all Consumer, Industrial and Protective packaging businesses at various points. Prior to assuming his current position, he was president and chief operating officer with global leadership, sales and operating responsibility for all of Sonoco’s diversified packaging businesses.
Before joining Sonoco in 1988, Mr. Sanders, a 1976 graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in finance, was the western regional manager for Republic Packaging Company based in Chicago, Ill. He spent 13 years with Republic Packaging in positions of increasing responsibility.
He and his wife, Sherry, live in Florence, S.C., and have three grown children. Sanders serves on the boards of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics Foundation and the Charles W. Coker and Elizabeth H. Coker Foundation.
Henri Haggblom - Managing Partner - Sinclair Group
Mr. Haggblom's career spans thirty years and includes extensive experience in manufacturing, strategic planning and operational performance improvement.
As Director of Corporate Strategic Planning for the world’s largest paper company, International Paper, he implemented a new strategy and led numerous acquisitions, divestitures, structural cost reductions, new product developments, and expansions to its geographic footprint.
With Sinclair Group, Mr. Haggblom is responsible for daily operations for all business globally, focusing on oil and gas, chemicals and refining, pulp and paper, packaging, food and flavors and fragrances. His goal is to create high value for our existing and future clients in regard to strategic choices and operational excellence. Mr. Haggblom holds an MS degree in Paper Technology and Marketing from Helsinki University of Technology. He holds dual citizenship in Finland and the USA.
John T Dixon – Principal - Global Forest, Paper & Packaging Industry Leader Deloitte Consulting, LLP
Mr. Dixon has more than twenty five years of experience working for and with companies in the process industry. He is a member of the global manufacturing leadership team and is the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited’s (DTTL) Global Forest, Paper & Packaging Sector Leader. Mr. Dixon combines practical experience with a deep understanding of the industry to advise clients on strategic and operational improvements. He is challenged with growing Deloitte’s market position while sharing perspectives and maintaining relationships with our key industry clients.
Prior to joining Deloitte, Mr. Dixon was a partner for IBM Global Services with management responsibility for the Industrial Products Practice in North and South America. This organization provided management and technology consulting services to the industry segments of Forest & Paper, Metals, Textiles, Mining and Discrete Manufacturing. He also led IBM’s Industrial Sector Practice for SAP and was challenged with integrating the PricewaterhouseCoopers acquisition which formed the largest SAP practice in the world.
Mr. Dixon worked for Milliken & Co. as a production manager and in professional consulting as a Process Industry and Supply Chain expert, prior to his management positions with IBM. These experiences have enabled him to develop a deep understanding of process manufacturing and how to drive improvements through strategy and business process change.
Mr. Dixon is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds a Masters degree from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina.
Paul Duncan - Mill Manager - KapStone Longview Mill
Mr. Duncan received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering at the University of Oklahoma, and began his career in the paper industry in 1986 as a process engineer. He now holds the position of mill manager at the KapStone Longview Mill, where he is responsible for managing all of the manufacturing, maintenance and engineering support operations for one of the largest paper mills in North America.
Most recently, Mr. Duncan played a key role in the transformation that took place at the Longview mill, which resulted in a 39% increase in tons produced over the period of 2007 through 2012. Mr. Duncan also played a key role in transforming the Longview mill safety culture, and was named "Safety Manager of the Year" at the Western Pulp and Paper Workers Conference in 2012.
Mr. Duncan resides in Vancouver, Wash., with his wife, son and two dogs. He is an avid bicyclist, and enjoys tandem bicycling with his son.
Frank Papa - President and CEO - Newark Recycled Paperboard Solutions
Mr. Papa is the President, CEO and a member of the board of directors of Newark. Prior to joining Newark he worked in Private Equity for 12 years as CEO of Aftermarket Technologies, CEO of Specialized Vehicles and CEO of Signature Aluminum. In addition, he has over 25 years’ experience working in Fortune 100 companies such as General Electric, Textron, Sara Lee and Stanley Tools in executive manufacturing assignments. Mr. Papa holds a BS in Industrial Management/Engineering from Lowell Technological Institute, an MBA from the University of Massachusetts and is a graduate of General Electric’s corporate manufacturing training program.
Charles P. Klass – President - Klass Associates Inc
Mr. Klass is recognized as an expert in development of coated and other value-added papers, processing and use of recycled fiber, and application of innovative technology to the paper industry.
He graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in pulp and paper technology and received a master of business administration in marketing management from Pace University.Mr. Klass' five decades of paper industry experience include technical and operating positions with Hamilton Paper, Oxford Paper, Union Camp, and Westvaco; editorial experience with Paper Trade Journal; sales/marketing management positions with Merck Chemical, Lockport Felt, Asten Group, and Inventing/BTG Coating Systems.
In 1986 he became a consultant to the paper industry specializing in development of value-added and coated paper grades and marketing of innovative products and technology to the paper industry.
Mr. Klass is Adjunct Professor of Paper Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Imaging at Western Michigan University. He is a Fellow of TAPPI, the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry and has served on the association's Board of Directors and received the TAPPI Distinguished Service Award.
He has numerous publications on paper technology and marketing management. He developed and taught the TAPPI short course, "How to Market Effectively to the Pulp and Paper Industry." He also teaches TAPPI courses on “Improving Paper Machine Operations,” “Linerboard and Corrugating Medium Manufacture” and “Paper and Paperboard Coating.” He serves on the Editorial Board of Paper 360°.
Mr. Klass has also been honored with the TAPPI Distinguished Service Award, the TAPPI Paper and Board Division Silver Medal Award, the Harris O. Ware Prize for outstanding contributions to paper manufacturing technology, and the TAPPI Coating and Graphic Arts Division Leadership and Service Award. He serves on the Board of the Western Michigan University Paper Technology Foundation and has been elected to the PTF Hall of Fame and the WMU Academy of Engineering Excellence.
