Capital Investment – Leader: Fred Lundy - Matt Markel Part 1: Best Practices Capital Planning and Execution Part 2: Bottle Necks in the Capital Procurement Process
The Capital Investment breakout session will continue the discussion put forward by Tom Stigers and Fred Lundy in the previous day’s session. The breakout group will look at the WestRock approach and steps to involve vendors early in the project development process, discussing some of the more actionable items suppliers can do to better partner with WestRock and other Pulp & Paper companies. Matt Markel will join the conversation to share areas where the translation from strategy to the capital procurement process can sometimes lead to delays or take the project off course. The roundtable discussion is geared at audience participation and we will welcome supplier thoughts on potential areas where you see opportunities for improvement within the process and feedback on the plans presented at the conference.
Chemicals/Materials – Leader: Ronnie Campbell - Jason Caldwell Part 1: Stake Holder engagement
In an environment where meeting and exceeding our goals is not only expected but necessary, it is critically important for all areas of the organization to be aligned. WestRock Procurement understands that sourcing projects are competing for limited resources and therefore must communicate well and build a compelling business case to drive change. Why stakeholder engagement? In a large and complex organization, stakeholder engagement is vitally important for identifying, understanding, prioritizing, and executing on projects and initiatives that lead to lower cost, improve product quality, and reduce supply chain risk. In this session we will review how the Procurement organization engages both internal and external stakeholders to bring value to WestRock.
Part 2: Continuous Improvement
WestRock believes that world class procurement organizations become trusted advisors to their leadership team and world class suppliers become trusted partners to their customers. Historically procurement organizations and suppliers have focused primarily on price but not the mix, consumption or productivity. Everyone talks about Total Cost of Ownership(TCO) but without an organized program that tracks supplier performance over time it is often difficult to ascribe value to anything other than price. Why continuous improvement? A well-run continuous improvement program allows WestRock to leverage supplier knowledge, background and resources to drive value that directly impacts productivity, quality, innovation and cost. These benefits allow WestRock to be differentiated in the marketplace and drive revenue growth. The CI program documents the supplier performance in these areas in a rigid and consistent methodology which provides WestRock the data required to select and grow with the right partner for our business. This is your opportunity to learn what it takes to be a trusted supplier to WestRock.
MRO/Services – Leader: Nathan Childs - Martha Rich – Chris Lecrone Part 1: Total Cost, What, Who and How is it achieved/validated Part 2: What it means to be a strategic supplier to WRK Part 3: Best practices around ways suppliers can support outage planning and execution
The MRO/Services breakout session will be facilitated by Nathan Childs, Procurement Director - MRO and Production Services. The session will concentrate on specific topics around the value to the enterprise and supplier of focusing on total cost of ownership (TCO), what it means to be a strategic supplier and outage planning and execution. Nathan will be joined by Martha Rich and Chris Lecrone, as WestRock subject matter experts, to participate and address supplier questions around these general topics
